  • p. 22-23 – CHARTS EX 12 and EX 13 – The Exuma Park has placed moorings in the area near 24° 32' N/76° 48’ W along the west side of Shroud Cay, near 24° 29’ N/76° 46.3’ W and 24° 28’ N/76° 46.2’ W along the west side of Hawksbill Cay. (posted 4/1/08)

Exumas Update

Update for Exumas - 4th edition

NOTICE TO EXPLORERS JUNE 2004 EXUMAS, 4TH Edition (Older editions are obsolete and should be replaced with the January 2007 5th edition.)

  • p. 6 Single sideband radio -- Please note that ShipCom still provides ship-to-shore service, WLO.

  • p. 17 SHIP CHANNEL CAY-- The restaurant is open to the public at certain times.  Call VHF 16 or 82 for information and reservations.  Happy hour 4-6; dinner 6-8:30.  Phone 242-477-4529.

  • p. 19 HIGHBORNE CAY Need-to-Know Info --The new grocery store down by the dock will soon be open with regular hours from 8-5. There will also be new showers for marina guests.  There are some changes in rates here:  ice now $6/bag; trash disposal $5/bag for first two bags then $25/bag; water 50 cents/gal; dockage $1.65 to $2/ft.  Kalik and Heiniken bottles, plus crushed aluminum cans, are collected here for recycling.  The fuel dock also sells outboard motor oil and diesel oil.  Information on charter flights are available at the dock office, but charters are not arranged by the marina.

  • p. 20,  CHART EX 11--MacDuffs is now Norman's Cay Beach Club.  Reopening in 2007.

  • pp. 21-27--Exuma Park, MOORINGS have been added at Emerald Rock, Hawksbill Cay, Cambridge Cay (Little Bell Island) and Shroud Cay.  Boaters are encouraged to pick up a mooring where available. Anchoring is no longer permitted in the area immediately surrounding Emerald Rock and No Anchoring buoys have been installed to indicate the protected seabed area. Anchoring is still permitted at Cambridge Cay, Hawksbill Cay, and Shroud Cay but must not interfere with the moorings. All moorings at Cambridge Cay, Hawksbill Cay, and Shroud Cay will accommodate vessels to 65’ with a 6’ draft and are on a first come, first served basis.   Moorings at Warderick Wells and Emerald Rock are assigned by the Park Office on VHF 16. All mooring fields have additional moorings to accommodate larger vessels to 150’.  Contact Park Office for more details.
    FEES:  Contact Park Office on VHF 16 for current mooring fees and Support Fleet Membership fees.  Support Fleet Members receive priority on the waiting list for moorings.
    No advance reservations.

  • p. 28-29, CHARTS EX 18, 18A--channel across bar west of Compass Cay, leading into the marina, has been dredged to 7 feet (2.1 meters).  Also buoys and poles from bank have been re-routed.  Compass Cay waypoint on Chart 18 is still the starting point.

  • p. 35 CHART EX 21 -- Great Guana Cay --A Haitian sailboat wrecked in early 2004 at 24º 02.233' N/76º 22.847' W about 1/4 mi NNE of the White Point waypoint, next to shoals.  This is about 0.2 mi. NE of the route between White Point and Black Point.  The hull is submerged in about 4 m and a red/blue mast is exposed about 5 m.

  • p. 38 CHART EX 23 -- Cave Cay Marina is now open with fuel and dockage.  Call 242-357-0143 for information.

  • p. 44, CHART EX 28 --Water tower (dark blue, conspicuous standpipe) at Steventon on a 25-meter hill at 23° 38.66'N/ 75° 57.00'W.

  • p. 45, CHART EX 29 -- Emerald Bay Marina now open.  Entrance dredged and buoyed.  Entrance waypoint 23° 38.29'N/ 75° 54.75'W. 

  • p. 47 CHART EX 30 -- Change course between POINT CAY Waypoint and THREE FATHOM Channel waypoint to 091º T (from 023º T).

  • p. 65 Chart RI 10 -- Hazard to navigation in the form of a large tree snag in the Margaret Shoal area at 22º 15.96' N/ 075º 46.73' W. Reported Feb. 20, 2004.
